🏃♂️I ran through the unexplored industrial area, north of SUTD. (1) I came across the Japanese School Changi Campus for the first time. Its white building looks majestic. (2) Right across the street is Applied Materials, a semiconductor equipment manufacturer. People are still working there at 7 PM on Saturday – quite unusual for Singapore, isn’t it? These unexpected discoveries are why I can’t give up outdoor running.
🍕 Had dinner with 6 SUTD faculty members. They all chose SUTD after their Western experiences. With international faculty at 50%, SUTD reflects Singapore’s environment where global talent naturally thrives. Could Japan create new value in its aging society by becoming equally attractive to international talent?
The Neapolitan pizza, prosciutto, and Christmas decorations were wonderful. Thank you for inviting me! ✨
A calculation error was discovered during a meeting! 😱 It was decided that one person would bear the burden alone. I naively spoke up, “Let’s share the responsibility for this mistake together!”
The outcome didn’t change, but I have no regrets! The spirit of fairness I inherited from my mentor still pushes me forward today. Though staying quiet would have been easier, I somehow feel proud of myself ✌
Drawn by karaoke songs,🎤 I found SUTD’s Deepavali celebration. Though the main festival ended October 31st, they held this event on November 13th as festivities extend longer here.
Indians are indeed a major community in Singapore. It’s amazing how they celebrate late into night without alcohol. I often find myself connecting with Indian culture and enjoy these cross-cultural experiences.🌍
In 2023, I managed only 7 applications. I was always two steps behind, lacking both in quantity and quality. I was too comfortable with the status quo.
Last night, I added one more, bringing 2024’s total to 29. With a stronger sense of urgency and improved physical and mental strength, I’ve been catching up to more opportunities. While results matter, I’m satisfied with taking better shots at my goals. ⚽
Yesterday was 11/11, known as Garden Eel Day, but I forgot to mention it!
In June, after enjoying melon picking with my family at Gamagori Orange Park, we visited the newly renovated Takeshima Aquarium. When I locked eyes with a garden eel peeking out of the sand, I was truly soothed.🥰 Their gentle swaying in the blue light has a mysterious charm.

Weekend Bak Kut Teh Club, Round 2! Since there aren’t many Bak Kut Teh places near SUTD, I took a 40-minute MRT ride to Leong Kee Bak Kut Teh.
On top of the bubbling clay pot was likely sunny lettuce. The herbal broth simmered with soy sauce and herbs in perfect harmony. The pork and tofu skin soaked in the broth, soothing my tired body 😌. Ready for Monday! 🍲
What makes me react so strongly to the name ‘Kento’? Well, my son often plays with his friend Kento-kun, and the songs by ‘Kocchi no Kento’ never fail to lift my spirits.
That’s why my heart skipped a beat when I spotted ‘Toyohashi’s Kento-kun’ mascot at a school festival. All these Kentos share the character ‘健’ (ken), which represents health. With the power of these ‘Kentos,’ let’s live each day with health and happiness!
